Angle of Advance Measuring

In circuit (pic.1) Operational Amplifier type LM 3900 is used. Circuit is connected to XY contacts of low voltage part of breaker circuit (pic.1).

Resistor R9 provides adjustment of circuit, when the contacts of breaker are short out (look table 1.) The results of voltmeter must be multiplied on 10. For example Angle of Advance is 10 degrees according to voltage 1.0 V.

Table 1.

Accuracy of measurement depends on exactness of voltmeter. If electronic voltmeter is used on the output of circuit it is necessary to put a filter (integrator).
Diodes: D1 - КД226, D4 - КД522; Stabilizer diodes: D2, D3 - D814 В, D5 - С139; Transistors: Q1 - KT361, Q2 - KT315.
