On the logical elements U1.1 and U1.2 the generator of square pulse is created with frequency 48 kHz, on U1.3 and U1.4 – one-shot multivibrator, pulse period-to-pulse duration ratio of it relies on the input voltage Uin. Modulators bar of frequencies is from 0 to 16 kHz, non-linear distortion factor is about 1%, and depends on initial displacement on the transistor Q1 and is set by a variable resistor

The same modulator can be created on the IC 155АГ3 (fig. 2), where the period t is calculated on an approximate formula: t = R1C1 ln2.
