Motorcycles Tachometer

Tachometer is set on motorcycles or motorbikes with a single-cylinder two-stroke combustion engine with the contact or no contact ignition system. Tachometer allowed to measure rotation frequency of crankshaft to 10000 RPM. Fig.1 - circuit of tachometer.

Tuning of tachometer: impulses (with amplitude 2.6 V) apply from a generator on the Input of tachometer. Resistor 2 kOhm is set frequencies of the measured signal. For example, at 100 H the device is calibrated on 6000 RPM. For 4-cycle engine the data of device need to be multiply into two. Accuracy of device relies on stability of power supply. For stabilization of circuit it is possible to use the microcircuit 142EN5B. Diodes D1…D5 – D220. Transistors Q1, Q2 – KT315. Fig.2 - Tachometers connecting circuit is represented.

If ignition is contact, the Input of tachometer is connected to the point A. If ignition is no contact, the Input of tachometer is connected to the point B.
