Principle of work of Level Detector is based on the ray refraction effect. The ray refraction takes place on the border of environments with different density (fig.1). 1 – laser diode, or light-emitting diode, 2 – photodiode. Principle of work: Type A (top level) - a liquid is out and a ray is not refracted and not got on the photodiode. Photodiode producing signal of top level; Type B – on the border of environments a ray is refracted and got on photodiode which forms the signal of low level. Refractive index relies on light wave length and temperature.
No contact Level Detector can be used for the flammable liquids like petrol. The level gauge has not mechanical parts unlike float-level gauge.
